"And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward."

April 2019 - Update from Mike Williams
I am often asked what drives my passion for this "Dominican Children" cause. Let me say that "people like 'us' do things like this every day." There are passionate people around the country who believe in making an active difference in saving children. They are people who realize how blessed they were to be born in the United States, or even born into this century. They are people who believe the good gospel of Jesus and act on it. These are people who look forward to one day standing before God and hearing "well done... you were a participant not a spectator."
I preached a sermon last week about compassion. Compassion is heart (emotion, empathy), but real compassion does not stop there. True compassion is also the work of the mind (plan of action, scheme, goal), the development of a way to solve the problem the heart is moved by. Compassion is not complete without our feet and hands (forward motion to the action plan, the first step and the long haul), doing the action plan that was motivated by the heart and developed by the mind. This is why most compassion and passion and empathy is worthless in the real world. It stops at emotion. I refuse to let compassion and passion stop at my heart.
The 13th of last month was my birthday. I turned fifty-seven. I'm not happy about that. I would rather have celebrated 47, or 37, or even 7. Now I know that many of you have been waiting for many years, saving up to buy me something really nice for my big 57th birthday (LOL). Thank you.
Here is one thing I want from you for my birthday. I want you to help provide a child with Christian discipleship and all the resources of the Cups program. A monthly gift of $23 provides discipleship resources for a child in a poor village like Villa Valedor.
I thought of this birthday narrative last week, when a young man decided to use his own birthday to raise money for the mission. If he can do that at his young age, so can I. Every year I get closer to having my birthday party with Jesus. So do you. People like us are not putting off our opportunity to impact the world for Christ for another year. Please join people like "us". I believe it was that great theologian (joke) Garth Brooks who sang, "People loving people, that is the enemy of everything that is evil." I believe Jesus had a few good dialogues about the topic too.
And finally, I want people like "us" to join others like "us" in a successful CUPS project to rescue children in the Dominican Republic. Call the office TODAY and tell them you are joining Mike this summer in the Dominican. It is time to join the people like us who refuse to watch the mission happen, by making the mission happen.
